I started learning this esoteric dance form at the age of five. My mother Smt Savithri Mahadevan, a student of dance herself initiated me into the dance form. After going through multiple transitions, I had the opportunity of discovering my Guru Smt Usha Srinivasan, a senior disciple of Padmashri K N Dandayuda pani Pillai. I have been fortunate to find my Guru at an early age in life. She has molded me from an enthusiastic learner to a matured committed dancer. After several years of training I completed my Arangetram in the year 1992 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai. Since then, I have given several solo and group performances. I have been awarded the Best dancer award both by Music Academy through their Spirit of Youth Competition and by Tamil Isai Sangam, Chennai. ‘Hasta’, was the name of our dance school. Being a part of Hasta I have performed in several productions, to name a few— ‘Ushas’ or dawn, ‘Navarasam’ or the nine emotions,’Ramayanam’ - the story of Rama. Over the years I have choreographed and conducted several group and solo performances I currently reside in Fremont, California and run my dance school called—”Tiruchitrambalam’ under the name of the enigmatic Lord Shiva.
